The S.T.A.R. (Sustainability Training for Accredited Real Estate Professionals) program gives real estate professionals the tools to market, sell, and communicate with clients about green building. In this two-day course, participants learn about the Northwest’s leading green home certification programs while gaining the skills needed to help clients with their sustainable needs and green building questions.

As a S.T.A.R. graduate, you will be able to do the following:

• Differentiate yourself in the marketplace with green building knowledge;

• Describe basic green home features and trends;

• Communicate effectively about green building concepts;

• Interact with clients who have varying green values.

The course consists of three components:

1. The S.T.A.R. Manual, which is provided before the first workshop, introduces participants to information and concepts that will be discussed in class, and acts as an important resource beyond the class.

2. The two-day interactive workshop consists of discussions, group exercises, and professional presentations on green products and green home certifications. This course also includes two guided green home tours.

3. The online exam tests a participant’s knowledge of green building concepts. Upon successful completion of the exam, participants will be designated as a S.T.A.R. graduate. Real estate brokers will be certified as Earth Advantage Brokers.

Who Should Attend
This program is a must for real estate professionals who wish to stand out from their competitors and establish themselves as green home experts. Title agents, home inspectors, mortgage brokers, appraisers, and other professionals involved in real estate transactions will also gain from this extensive two-day course. The training program has relevance to both the existing and new home markets.
