Sustainable Stormwater Workshop a SuccessMay 18, 2009
On April 3, the Oregon Environmental Council, with support from the Home Builders Association of Lane County, offered a Sustainable Stormwater Solutions for the Willamette Valley workshop in Eugene. Various city officials, builders, and developers attended the event. Guest speaker and national low-impact development expert Larry Coffman delivered a presentation highlighting projects around the country that have successfully implemented low-impact development (LID) strategies. There was plenty of constructive dialogue at the workshop, and it was apparent that there is a need for more information about LID strategies. It was also evident that there is confusion and complications in some jurisdictions where rules and regulations can make LID strategies difficult to employ.
