June 11, 2008
Steve Vincent - Oregon Regional Business Manager for Avista Utilities - has been named Board President for Earth Advantage - Inc. after his election on Friday - May 23 - 2008. Steve has accepted the position after serving three years as a Board member with Earth Advantage. We welcome Steve to this new position and know that his expertise and drive will serve this organization well - said Sean Penrith - Executive Director for Earth Advantage. Earth Advantage - Inc. began nearly a decade ago as a utility based energy conservation program of Portland General Electric. In the spring of 2005 - it became an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. Since that time - the organization has transformed itself and become the Northwest’s premiere service provider of green building programs in the residential market. Earth Advantage certifies homes as a third-party verifier for both the ENERGY STAR and LEED for Homes programs - as well as for Earth Advantage’s proprietary residential - commercial - sustainable communities and remodeling programs. In addition - Earth Advantage - Inc. - provides green design and consulting services - conducts education and training seminars - and is a key contributor to the development of green building standards. The organization is well established with over 400 builders - remodelers - and sponsors throughout Oregon - Southwest Washington and Northern California - and licensed partners for the seven states of New England. I’m excited to be a part of an organization that is at the leading edge of a transformation in the housing stock. As climate change reaches top of mind awareness with consumers - the demand for environmentally responsive residential construction and related products is spiking. Working collaboratively with builders to address this rising tide will continue to be our focus - said Vincent. Vincent is a recipient of the 2007 Oregon Economic Development Leader of the Year. He was named by Governor Ted Kulongoski to a second three-year term on the Oregon Growth Account (OGA) Board. Vincent also serves on a renewable energy and energy efficiency advisory board to the Secretary of Energy and is a past president of the Oregon Economic Development Association. As the marketing committee chair of Southern Oregon Regional Economic Development Inc. - Vincent is also a member of the Jackson and Josephine County Regional Rural Investment Board. During his eight years with Avista - Vincent has served as the company’s Oregon Economic Development Manager and Salem lobbyist; he was loaned extensively by Avista to lobby throughout southern Oregon on behalf of Southern Oregon University - Rogue Community College - The Chamber of Medford/Jackson County and the Southern Oregon Historical Society. Prior to joining Avista - Vincent served for six years as a legislative aide to State Representative Eldon Johnson (R-Medford).
