LEED for Homes
♦ LEED for Homes FAQ ♦ Earth Advantage as a LEED for Homes Provider FAQ ♦ LEED for Homes Process Flowchart ♦ Is my project eligible for LEED for Homes
The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has developed and is currently piloting its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Homes program. LEED for Homes is a voluntary rating system that promotes the design and construction of high performance "green" homes. A green home uses less energy, water, and natural resources; creates less waste; and is healthier and more comfortable for the occupants. Benefits of a LEED home include lower energy and water bills; reduced greenhouse gas emissions; and less exposure to mold, mildew and other indoor toxins. The net cost of owning a LEED home is comparable to that of owning a conventional home.
The LEED Rating System is the nationally recognized standard for green building. LEED certification recognizes and rewards builders for meeting the highest performance standards, and gives homeowners confidence that their home is durable, healthy, and environmentally friendly.
Earth Advantage, Inc. has been selected by the USGBC to be a LEED for Homes Program Provider. As a Program Provider, Earth Advantage, Inc. is responsible for working with those entities that wish to build their projects to the LEED for Homes standard. In this role, Earth Advantage, Inc. works with building professionals to help them understand and incorporate high performance green building practices and materials into their projects. This includes performance testing and compliance with the pilot rating system. To learn more or sign up for the pilot program, home building professionals should contact their Earth Advantage Representative.
